“We’ll be washed and buried one day my girl,
and the time we were given will be left for the world.
The flesh that lived and loved will be eaten by plauge,
so let the memories be good for those who stay.”
-Mumford and Sons
A few minutes ago this post was deleted due to technical difficulties. So, my positive message and vibrant explanation could perhaps be lost in frustration. Needless to say, this morbid yet satisfying lyric has been my mantra lately. On the worst of days (calling pet poison control, Miles peeing on a slide, incessant crying etc.) I attempt to recall this powerful song and close my eyes and remember…
This is it. This is my one and only. My boys will have these memories of me.
“My life is my message”-Dali Lama.
So, in my style, I decided to start embroidering it. Make it a permanent fixture around my home. Something to gaze at nonchalantly, and something to seek out and read. I have made a few of these and I will tell you they work. At least for me they do. I look at my boys and I am so proud. I am so happy. I know my life is grand, I guess I just forget sometimes.
The artwork in the background is Miles collaborative artwork from his party yesterday. He put the finishing touches on it this morning. See? I am proud. In the supermarket with two screaming babes sometimes I avert my eyes. At times, I look into my very-soon-to-be two year olds eyes and feel honest to goodness anger. Often I feel on the verge of running out the door fast fast. But I don’t. And I won’t. They are mine, and I am proud of my life. Sometimes, it just takes a little music and a look at these sweet faces to remind me I suppose.

It’s so true though…puts it all into perspective. Morbid but in an enlightening way.
