what I’m use to

This morning I can type this quite calmly and easily for both boys are in “time away” from each other, (in lieu of “time out, but equally satisfying).  I am not use to this type of argument they have.  The type that leaves visual reminders of a sought after block, in the form of teeth marks and pinches and punches.  It is confusing, alarming, and quite frankly disheartening.  I can’t quite wrap my mind around it all, it’s not what I remember from my childhood.  I remember the verbal abuse, oh yes, and the occasional slam, but nothing like this.  Really though, which is better.  Sibling disputes.  Not for the weak of heart.

Luckily, I know the remedy for such things.  You got got wear them out thin as a pancake.  A hike deep in the dark forest is medicine for our soul.  Wild raspberries for our mouths, and microscopic discoveries for our minds.  The sound of unknown animals in the thick wet brush and the feel of our thundering steps on the hollow earth.  It is a temporary solution.  But these things are temporary anyways.  It all is really.
