I cast off just in the nick of time for a baby shower last weekend celebrating a dear friend expecting her first little one in May. The blanket was still wet from blocking upon my arrival but no one seemed to mind in the least, though there was a lot of explaining to do for the non knitting of the bunch. Blocking, it turns out is a mystery! Lace patterns always take me a few rounds before I get the hang of it. This one was no exception! I loved knitting with Quince and Co.’s Osprey, it is soft and springy and knits up fairly quick. This is also their pattern-Elmer.
I can’t wait to get back to my baby girl ruffly knitting projects that were briefly set aside to make way for this project. The gratitude I feel after getting through the first trimester awfulness is immeasurable. Seasickness is no longer the result of picking up some yarn and needles and attempting to cast on… and for that I am rejoicing! (Because trust me the snow coming down outside my window requires a balance…)
Any knitting in your neck of the woods?
This is a lovely gift. I’m a devoted Quince & Co fan, especially their soft squishy yarns! I always admire baby blankets with pretty lace patterns like this, but can never work up the nerve to start one. It seems like such a huge undertaking.
I can understand that! And if i am being quite honest I was an entire skein short on this project! I quit at four instead of five. 🙂
