There is little to nothing that says spring the way the birds can. Morphed into golds, and bold reds, and shining blues, and shimmery purples, these beauties have certainly place themselves in the center of attention. I love all they inspire in myself and my children. Kid sized nests, gorgeous paintings, long hikes, homemade bird feeders, reading and identifying and my very favorite of all, conversation- both within our family and out.
It reminds me of how community based homeschooling really is. Hearing about how one neighbor has a kestrel nest in their barn, or how another coaxes in orioles with sliced oranges, are jumping points for so many interesting conversations. Having something to relate to humans of all ages, having a common interest, these are some the things that make a good teacher. So watch out neighbors, you never know when you are giving the days lesson… 🙂
Hope your weekend is full of birdsong!
